BANGI: Six members of humanitarian group Aman Palestin Berhad will travel to Gaza to meet poor Palestinians during the fasting month to hand over RM500,000 in aid.

Aman Palestin chairman Abdullah Zaik Abdul Rahman said RM320,000 would be distributed to the Palestinians and RM160,000 would be used to buy three tonnes of medicine and two tonnes of infant formula.

He added that the funds were collected from donations by Malaysian individuals, corporations, government agencies as well as representatives of mosques and suraus.

Abdullah said he and five others would leave on a flight to Egypt from KL International Airport at 10am tomorrow.

The team would travel by land to Gaza the following day after obtaining approval from the Egyptian authorities.

The others who would be joining him are Anas Abdul Wahab, Abdul Razak Kassim, Abdul Rahman Mt Dali, Zaim Shaari, and Haezreena Begum Abdul Hamid.

“Only medicine and infant formula can be brought into Gaza. Our convoy will have to go through 13 checkpoints, starting from the Rafah gate in Egypt to Gaza, before we can deliver the funds and goods to Aman Palestin officials already there,” he said here yesterday.

Abdullah said that during the first mission on June 24, the group successfully delivered RM320,000 worth of medicine and infant formula.

He said Aman Palestin would continue to organise aid missions, and called on Malaysians to continue their contributions towards the Palestinians.
